oreo's NEW life

This is my little space on the internet, where I'll post about my oh-so-interesting life of watching movies, fantasy (and real) sports, etc etc. I really believe my life is about to start over again, and this is where I'll document some of it with intriguing commentary about finding a house, moving to a new city and looking for a job!

No line of sight

Bad news on getting DISH at the house...no line of sight! Argh...frustrating, had to wait all day for the DISH guy just so he can tell me that the jungle behind my house is blocking their satellite. Bah! Apparently I can get DirectTV...so it will be either that or Charter.

Spent most of the day (while Heather was out earning some cheese) opening up boxes and moving stuff around. That's a full time job, especially with the wedding gifts. When you start getting those you'll realize how much of a pain in the arse it is to open those damn boxes. I swear half of the cost goes to packing them, its ridiculous. Took me 10 minutes today just to take the plastic that was wrapped around this lamp shade. And by the way, thanks for the $300 lamp from Pottery Barn....but wtf? $300 for a lamp? What was I thinking letting Heather register for that! :)

Looks like another busy day for me trying to get our house in order. But that's good I like having something to do. Tomorrow, putting together my new grill!!!

Homeowners at last!

After all the legal mumbo-jumbo in the closing and signing what it seems like 20,000 legal documents (that probably bind me for the rest of my life), Heather and I are finally homeowners!

It is pretty darn exciting, considering we've been cooped up in a little "one-room wonder" Extended Stay for 40 days.
We've started to move some stuff over yesterday, and spent our first night at the home last night (with the cats of course). It was nice, we watched the wedding video on the laptop and then slept in our sleeping bags. :) Tonight we'll have the beds and everything here! :)

About the house...it's in an established neighborhood in Greenville (border of Greenville and Mauldin), 1400 square feet, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and pretty spacious.
Tomorrow the DISH guy will come in here and install it. Also need to get Charter's people here to I can get some FastSpeed Internet of my own.
Already have a lot of little projects and things to keep me busy, but I mostly look forward to riding my bike around the neighborhood a good bit.

Once we get everything situated we'd love to have some friends over to check it out. I'll give a shout-out about that later! Off to work!

I'm baaaack!

After a couples of week away I figure I can start up on the blog again. Lots and lots going on since I last wrote. This weekend we move into our new house, and that's the big thing going on (finally out of the Extended Stay!). Also, got a new mountain bike, and a pretty nice one at that (birthday gift).

Aside from myself, there are other things going on in the world (yes, it has kept turning). Brazil's WC disaster has left many fans like myself scratching our heads. I have plenty of excuses but bottom line is they didn't get it done. USA will have a new MNT coach and I look forward to hearing the hiring. Also in soccer, crazy stuff going on in Italy with their club teams and that's just going to create even more chaos in the transfer market.

Speaking of chaos and crazy, the Middle East is still fighting and I don't see a good end anywhere near. They've got history going on 6,000 years and there's no clear solution in my opinion.

And lastly, SEC Media Days are this week. Got to hear CMR talk about the Dawgs for a bit...still waiting on links from the SEC website from the other interviews with Quentin Moses and Nick Jones. They also have links on their preseason All-SEC teams which is worth checking out (M.Millner, Inman, Jones, Moses, Coutu on the 1st Team; J.Jackson, T.Battle and Ely-Kelso on the 2nd Team; Thomas Brown and Tony Taylor on the 3rd Team.

I'll have more on my new house a little later!
